Bacteriological testing by dip slide is used for determining the levels of total bacteria, yeast and mold that can be cultivated from a fuel, coolant or cutting fluid sample, to see whether it is suitable for use and/or it presents a potential health risk.
An agar slide is dipped into a sample of the liquid to be tested, before incubation for a number of days. The slide is reviewed for growth of each of the species.
The results tell us a total count (bacteria), yeast content and mold content.
